Days 1–3: colour looks bold and slightly swollen. Blot gently and apply a thin layer of balm.
Days 4–10: flaking. Do not pick or scrub — the pigment underneath needs the crust to come off on its own.
Weeks 2–6: a pale 'ghost' stage, then the colour returns. We judge the result at the touch-up, not before.
