Can you build through a Chicago winter?
Short answer: yes, and sometimes it is the better time to start.
Concrete can be poured below freezing with blankets and additives — it just costs a little more.
Framing in winter is fine. Dry lumber in cold air beats wet lumber in a July storm.
Permit queues are shortest in January, so a winter start often finishes sooner than a spring one.
